Path guards
CleanSpeed never follows symbolic links, junctions or reparse points out of the folder a rule targets. If a file changes between scan and cleanup, it’s skipped.
CleanSpeed is built to be hard to misuse. Here’s exactly what happens between pressing Scan and getting your space back.
Under the hood
Every cleanup runs the same six steps. None is skipped, and none deletes anything on the spot.
Signed rules describe known locations. Detection never changes anything.
Each item gets a risk level, evidence and an estimated size.
You see everything first. Only Safe items are preselected.
Paths and file IDs are re-checked, then items are moved — not destroyed.
Results are verified and written to a local, auditable log.
Restore any operation from History while it’s in quarantine.
Low risk with clear evidence, such as temporary files. Selected by default.
Your call — downloads, duplicates or cookies. Never selected automatically.
May affect how an app or Windows behaves. Shown with extra explanation and never automatic.
Diagnostic information only. Nothing here can be deleted.

Cleaned items are moved to a protected quarantine folder on the same device and kept for the period you choose in Settings. Until then, a single click restores them to their original location. If quarantine fails, the item is left untouched.
Download CleanSpeed, run a scan and decide what goes. You can always undo.
