Fix the most common issues yourself: undoing a cleanup, finding the quarantine and getting your phone and PC to connect. Still stuck? Email us.
Undo a cleanup
Cleaned items are not deleted right away: they are quarantined first, and you can restore them at any time until their retention date.
- Open History in the app.
- Select the cleanup you want to undo and review it. Each item shows how long it is kept.
- Choose Restore. Items go back to their original location; if a file with the same name already exists, nothing is overwritten and both are kept under different names.
Where is the quarantine?
The quarantine stays on your device and is never uploaded. Don't move files out of it by hand: restore them from History in the app.
- Windows: the %LOCALAPPDATA%\CleanSpeed\Quarantine folder. If the cleaned files were on another drive, they are kept in a hidden folder at the top of that drive.
- Android 11 and later: photos, videos and other media go to the system trash. For as long as the system keeps them, restore them from History in the app or from the trash in your gallery or files app.
- Android 8–10: items are kept in the app's private quarantine for 30 days and then removed automatically. They are excluded from cloud backups and device transfers.
SafeCleanup Link won't connect
Link connects your PC and phone directly over your own network with end-to-end encryption. It never sends file names, paths or contents, and uses no server or account.
- Both devices must be on the same Wi‑Fi (the same router). Guest Wi‑Fi and some public or office networks block devices from reaching each other.
- If Windows treats the current network as Public, Link is turned off. On a network you trust, such as home or work, switch it to Private in Windows Settings.
- If Windows Firewall asks on the first connection, allow access on private networks only.
- Each QR code works once and changes after 5 minutes. Select New QR code on the PC and scan again.
- If a VPN or a security app's network protection is on, pause it and try again.
- If you see a security warning, stop: another device on the network may be interfering. If you reset the PC's connection key yourself, forget that PC under Connected devices on the phone and pair again.
Why wasn't this item cleaned?
SafeCleanup never cleans these automatically: documents, photos and videos, passwords and autofill, app user data, locked files, files that haven't finished syncing, and unknown system files. Photos, videos and music can only be moved to the trash or quarantine when you confirm each item. For browser cookies and history, the app points you to that browser's own settings.
Uninstall and remove data
Windows: remove SafeCleanup in Settings › Apps. To protect your undo data, the %LOCALAPPDATA%\CleanSpeed folder is kept, so restore anything you need first and then delete that folder. Android: uninstalling the app removes its history, settings and quarantine together.
Reporting a problem
Tell us the app version, your OS version, what you did and what happened. If a diagnostic report would help, export it from the app and review it in the report viewer first. Personal paths and names are redacted, but please never send your personal files.
