Effective October 10, 2026
Terms of use
Please read these before using SafeCleanup. Core features for personal use are free and work on your device, with no ads, bundles or account.
These terms are a translation of the Korean original for convenience. If the two differ, the Korean version prevails.
Article 1 (Purpose)
These terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the SafeCleanup apps (Windows and Android), the website safecleanup.app and related optional features (the "Service") provided by Projectteamforyou (the "Operator"), and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the Operator and users.
Article 2 (Definitions)
"User" means any person or organization that uses the Service under these terms.
"Quarantine" means moving an item selected for cleanup to a protected place on the device (the app's quarantine or the operating system's trash) instead of deleting it immediately, so that it can be restored.
"Rule pack" means the set of rules, digitally signed by the Operator, used to identify cleanup candidates and their risk level.
"Optional features" means online features such as report sharing, calendar integration and feedback that only work when the user turns them on or consents.
Article 3 (Posting and changes)
The Operator posts these terms on the website and may change them within the limits of applicable law, including the Korean Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions and the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
Changes are announced on the website and in app update notes, with the effective date and reason, at least 7 days in advance (30 days for changes that are unfavorable to users). Users who do not agree to the changed terms may stop using the Service and uninstall the apps.
Article 4 (Service and fees)
Core features for personal use (scan, preview, quarantine, undo, history and measurement) are free. The Service does not show ads, install bundled software or require an account.
If the Operator adds paid features in the future, the price, scope, payment method and cancellation terms will be shown clearly before any payment, and core personal features that were offered for free will not be moved behind a paywall.
Article 5 (Optional features and privacy)
Optional features only work when the user turns them on or consents. File names, file contents, app lists and logs are never sent to a server automatically; a report is shared only after the user has reviewed it, personal details have been redacted and the user has agreed. The privacy policy governs how personal information is handled.
Article 6 (User obligations)
Users should check the items in the preview before running a cleanup, and are advised to keep separate backups of important data.
Users must not bypass the Service's safeguards (such as signature checks or path protection), send excessive requests to the servers, or use the Service on another person's device or data without permission.
Article 7 (Cleanup, quarantine and undo)
By default the Service selects only items rated "Safe". It never deletes automatically: personal documents, photos and videos, passwords and autofill data, app user data, locked files, files that have not finished syncing, or unknown system files.
Cleaned items are quarantined and verified first, recorded in History, and can be restored from History until the retention date shown in the app. Actions that cannot be undone, such as items past their retention date, items the user permanently deletes, or items removed from the operating system's trash, are flagged before they run.
Article 8 (Limitation of liability)
The Operator is liable under applicable law for damage it causes intentionally or negligently. However, for a Service provided free of charge, and unless the Operator acted intentionally or with gross negligence, the Operator is not liable for damage resulting from (1) a cleanup the user chose to run after seeing the preview and warnings, (2) data that can no longer be restored because its retention period ended or the user permanently deleted it, or (3) causes beyond the Operator's control, such as the operating system, other software, hardware failure or natural disasters.
Nothing in this article limits user rights that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
Article 9 (Performance claims and warranty)
The Operator does not promise that cleanup makes a device faster. A change in performance is shown only when it was actually measured on the user's device before and after cleanup, as a result of improved, no change, regressed or not measured. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as it is at the time of use.
Article 10 (Intellectual property and license)
Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the Service belong to the Operator or the rightful owners. The Operator grants users a free, non-exclusive right to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. Open-source components included in the Service are covered by their own licenses.
Article 11 (Stopping use and changes to the Service)
Users may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the apps. Before uninstalling, please restore or empty anything left in the quarantine (on Windows the quarantine is kept after uninstalling, to protect your undo data).
If the Operator ends all or part of the Service, it will announce this on the website 30 days in advance. On-device features of apps already installed (scan, quarantine and undo) keep working without a server.
Article 12 (Governing law and disputes)
These terms and the use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. In a dispute, the Operator and the user will first try in good faith to resolve it, and the user may apply for mediation to the Korea Consumer Agency or the Korean E-Commerce Mediation Committee. Lawsuits are brought before the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
